Finding of the living individual of the land snail Massylaea vermiculata in the horticultural center (SW Slovakia)

In the City of Bratislava, Slovakia, one living individual of the land snail Massylaea vermiculata (O. F. Müller, 1774) was found in the horticultural center Agapé (Devínska cesta Road, coordinates: 48.15132°N, 17.03121°E, 15th June 2019, J. Čapka leg., E. Neubert det.). The horticultural center is situated next to the Danube river arm on the south (see figure below); the animal was found in the water shaft.
This species of large land snail is common in the Mediterranean area; its distribution ranges from eastern Spain to the Crimea (Israel, Egypt, eastern Spain, eastern Bulgaria, southern, Greece). The nonindigenous distribution of Massylaea vermiculata includes southeastern Australia, one individual of this snail species was found living on a wall in Lewisham, London, England, in 2006. M. vermiculata has non-indigenous populations in Belgium, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, the USA, Australia, Japan, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Iran. M. vermiculata is able to survive winters in the North-West European temperate zone, including Belgium and The Netherlands. 
Massylaea vermiculata live in a broad variety of habitats, usually in dry vegetation, mainly in coastal vicinity, also in agricultural crops. It is very common in Crete, the species lives on practically every small island in the south Aegean.
